A small, ordinary and otherwise modest cottage and a very sleek, minimal, straight lined extension; I think these two go well together, don't you agree? This is a 65 m² extension to a cottage in Dalkey, Ireland which was completed in 2009 by Odos Architects, and with the purpose of connecting the live/work ground floor area to the rest of the existing house. The large south-facing glazed wall overlooking the back garden is full height, in order to provide as much light as possible to the interior. For the same reason there is a full length glazed cut in the ceiling. The black floor is in contrast with all the white surfaces, and gives a floating feeing to the interior compared to the white gravel outside!

  1. Oooo. Very pretty space. Clean lines and very modern. My husband would love that!
